Hip Berlin Tour: Craft Beer & Kreuzberg

Duration: 3 hours
Get ready for a unique Berlin experience! Taste the best German craft beers in town: traditional, new and original. Explore one of the hippest neighborhoods in town, Kreuzberg, and try out all of the Berliners’ favorites beers. Plus, you'll get insights on the local lifestyle and the city’s vibrant nightlife. What can be better than that? Start with a uniquely brewed traditional lager beer in one of the most beloved micro-breweries in Berlin. The cool thing? You can take your beer to go, a lot of Berliners pick and take their beer at home! Have your next beer at a nice spot with a quirky interior design. Taste the proper tank beer Pilsner Urquell which is as fresh as you can get: shelf-life for tank beer is just three weeks from leaving the brewery, and only one week once the tank is first opened. Step into the next typical hidden spot in town, only known by locals, another Berlin typical bar. Try a Schopper Hell for a taste of an unfiltered regional product created with a unique low-temperature treatment. If you're lucky, the brewer himself will serve it to you. He will tell you all about the hard-work and mastery behind it! Finish at a hip microbrewery, popular among the new beer lover generation. Discover the unique flavors of locally brewed craft beer. Pale ale is the new trend, so get ready for it! Fruity and fresh, it will make you feel like the evening just started again! Paired up with it, you’ll get a traditional salty German snack. The best part? Get useful tips about the best places to continue your evening right with your host. From local bars to the newest party spots in town - it’s time to experience the vibrant nightlife! Our amazing locals are ready to welcome you in their city! Check out their profiles and pick the host you like most.

German Home Cooking at it's Best: Sauerkraut & Strudel Workshop

Duration: 4 hours
I invite you to our communal kitchen and woody event space DAHEIM MANUFAKTUR in Kreuzberg to learn the art of strudel making -like our Oma used to teach us. Nobody really makes a strudel dough themselves anymore, so it has become a rare but precious skill. We will share our traditional and fool-proof recipe with you, as well as a little round of fun Sauerkraut making (with your jar to take home), to cover all the German cooking basics. ;) THE COURSE: We will start at 7pm with a little snack of simple bread and butter, as you might be coming hungry from work. We will then prepare the strudel dough together as it takes around 30 minutes to rise. In the meantime we will prepare our savoury filling - and some sauerkraut, that's a little souvenir of the night to take away with you :) Next, we will each fill our own strudel, which is the creative part. We are traditionally filling our savoury strudel with ground beef, sauerkraut, sautéed onions and creme fresh. As a vegetarian option you can fill it with sage potatoes, leek and mountain cheese. You learn how to mix a fool proof dough, how to roll it out paper thin, as well as the tricks in filling and decorating it. We then finish off with finally eating our freshly baked strudel with some lovely sides in our cozy cabin style event space. A strudel is definitely the star at every party, especially around Christmas time. The possibilities of filling it are endless, and you could go completely diy and use your own homemade sauerkraut for the next round. This is a 3,5 - 4 hour workshop with all ingredients, Welcome-Brotzeit and your own jar of sauerkraut as well as your recipes to take home This course is limited to 10 guests, with a minimum number of 3 participants- and held in English and German. Bitte schreibt mir wenn ihr eine deutsche Beschreibung wünscht. Here is also a little review about the workshop by a lovely food blogger… http://www.asausagehastwo.com/german-cooking-workshop-berlin/

Drink & Eat like a Berliner

Duration: 3 hours
On this private tour you will get to experience the German drinking culture at 4 stops: local Späti, a Beer Garten, Kneipe (pub) and Craft beer place. I will show you around Kreuzberg with my partner in crime, Liz! The drinking culture is known to be quite relaxed in comparison to many countries, and this is one of the things that visitors love about Berlin. Drinking a beer in public areas is common to see in Berlin. Grabbing beers at the Späti is normal, and sitting down there is not weird either! The Späti culture that exists in Berlin is a huge part of the city’s culture and is something that we Germans feel very proud about! After we get a drink at the Späti and get to know the local culture, we will visit one of the most famous local Bier gardens in Berlin, followed by a local craft beer place. Later we will eat Currywurst or a Rostbratwurst. And why not? end the tour with a Schnaps in a traditional berliner “Kneipe. (It's a casual and very traditional venue serving a range of German beers and schnaps) If you have any questions or special requests please let me know and I can create a personalized offer for you. Prost!"

Berlin's Gay, Lesbian, and Queer Scene Walking Tour

Duration: 4 hours
A queer king, a gay mayor, Marlene Dietrich in Blue Angel, David Bowie in the ‘70s, Audre Lorde in the ‘80s: Berlin has long been a magnet for LGBTIQ icons and allies.
From the wild days of the 1920s and the dark days of persecution under the Nazis through to the Cold War. Hear about the club scene of the 90s, the unlikely queer icon Frederick the Great, and the life of the openly gay Nazi, Ernst Röhm. Explore world-famous, Schöneberg, once the central district of the sapphic Berlin, home of philosopher and war journalist Erika Mann, chronicled by painter Otto Dix and writer Christopher Isherwood.
Discuss the queer community of Berlin and all the communities it intersects with by visiting Kreuzberg, where as far back as the 1600's, many waves of LGBTIQ and immigrant diasporas have come to determine "nobody flees without a reason".
On this tour we accept anyone that considers themselves LGBTIQ, an ally, or who’s just plain interested. Everyone is welcome!
