This is a relaxing 2-hour tour through the Cocoa Beach Thousand Islands behind Cocoa Beach. These are a chain of Mangrove Islands that are abundant with wild life. In the warm and dark lagoon waters lies a natural phenomenon of glowing blue waters alive with activity. The swirling of your hand, every paddle stroke, and the rolling wake off of your kayak all sparkle throughout the darkness. Not only do fish leave trails, dolphins look like torpedoes, and manatees a slow and graceful submarine. Many guests compare the experience to Pandora of “Avatar.” Some even recall the bioluminescence scene in “Life of Pi”  as the gentle plankton leave a trickling glow when you hold it in your hands and let it trickle down your arm. Though some may jokingly blame this on NASA runoff, it is actually the biological response of microscopic algae called a dinoflagellate. The perfectly natural and harmless concentration of organisms produces light before your very eyes, often existing in millions per liter of water. There are only a few places is the world you can see this amazing display of sea life lighting up the waters with their other-worldly neon glow.  This is one Florida experience you do not want to miss! What makes this amazing is that the protected wetlands around the area we launch our kayaks has almost no light pollution. This make for amazing visibility of the bioluminescence.

CLEAR KAYAKS! We'll get you checked in right when you arrive to allow for the most possible time on the water! Once you're all checked in, we'll give some basic paddle instructions and information about the tour ahead. The paddle will last about an hour and a half depending on the speed of our group and any wildlife we may see along the way. Bioluminescence is the emission of light by a living organism. When the organisms move in the water they create a beautiful glowing effect. This means that you can see fish underwater by the glow that they give off as they swim, your paddle will glow as you maneuver the waterways, and the natural flow of water will illuminate these organisms. The great thing about paddling in our clear kayaks is that you can also see the glowing directly below you! Paddling in a clear kayak will enhance your bioluminescence viewing experience by a long shot!

The tour takes about 90 minutes, and the route consists of mangrove trails and shallow lagoon waters. Our guides will be with you every step of the way, ensuring your safety and answering any questions you may have. The bioluminescence is hard to photograph, so we recommend you leave your camera at home and fully immerse yourself in this magical experience.
